Sahiwal Cows originated in the Sahiwal district of Punjab, Pakistan. Notable for their reddish dun appearance, these have large udders, long and drooping ears. This breed of cows have large thoracic hump. Elevated forehead, thick and strong horns and long tail are some important physical features of these animals. This breed of dairy animals can produce calf during their 3 to 3.5 years of age. Daily milk production capacity of Sahiwal Cows is 12 liter to 16 liter. Produced milk has 4.5% fat content. Due to their resistance capacity to tick borne ailments, these cattle are grown in various tropical countries.
