Breeds like the murrah buffalo are among the most productive water buffaloes. This buffalo is resistant to diseases and is easily adapted to Indian climates. As a result, this breed is highly suitable for professional as well as organized dairy farming. This high milking murrah buffalo produces between 10 and 16 litres of milk per day. The milk yield of the buffalo ranges from 2500 to 3500 litres per lactation. An average murrah buffalo can produce milk for up to 300 days, which is longer than the average milking period of other buffaloes.
